SQL Server Management Studio 18.x Bug on Open .sql file

Like in any Windows environment you have several options to open a file.
Let's say you have all of them in SSMS too.
Via internal File->Open menu or by grag-n-dropping a *.sql file to the opened and connected SSMS.
The other option is to simply click on any *.sql file in any file manager. Like Windows Explorer or other 3rd party file commander you enjoy to navigate through your file system.

That last option I used to seems to be corrupt in SSMS 18.x

The Windows Explorer (or any other file manager) gets stuck (frozen, not responding) for about 10 seconds each time I open a single .sql file by clicking on in.

File opens in SSMS but the source window manager it calls from gets stuck with '(Not Responding)' status in the title for 10 seconds.

SQL Server 2017 and Visual Studio 2015 on board. Checked and updated from ssms 17.9 to 18.6 with the same issue.

    Hi @A T ,

Restart your windows and sql service and have a test?
Do you test with other PCs? And the same issue?
Follow steps as this to open one .sql file: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/ssms/menu-help/open-with-new-file?view=sql-server-ver15#:~:text=You%20can%20open%20a%20document,and%20then%20click%20Open%20With.

Do you test with other SSMS version? Download the latest SSMS to have a test: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/ssms/release-notes-ssms?view=sql-server-ver15#186
