Auto populate form fields when the end user selects a specific field on a modern SP list

Hi Team

Is it possible to have certain columns auto-populate when the end user selects a specific field in a modern SP list form.

As an example, If the end user selects "New Recruit" under the "Request Type" field it will then auto populate the below 3 fields to reflect;

Field Name: "Resource Type" and for it to select: "Contractor"
Field Name: "Vacancy Reason?" and for it to select "New Position"
Field Name: "RPS attached*" and for it to select: "Yes"

I don't have access to power-apps so I'm trying to find a work-around

    As a workaround, you could create a automated flow to update item field when end user selects "New Recruit" in the "Request Type" field.

    Here is the example:
