sysprep, steps to success

I'm conducting my first sysprep and botched the job. I installed Windows 10, updated system and drivers and installed my software. After I had it all set, I used the GUI version of sysprep to generalize an image and set it to OOBE and shutdown. I then cloned the image, but when I boot them, they bluescreen and die.

Some of the forum posts state other ITs are having a similar issue, but comments are saying that we should not update Windows or install drivers.

So I'm wondering what are the best steps to establishing a baseline image. Should it be:

1) Install Windows, update Windows and drivers, install software
2a) sysprep and clone
OR
2b) clone and sysprep (to remove the UIDs)

OR

3) Install Windows and software, do not update Windows and drivers
4a) sysprep and clone
OR
4b) clone and sysprep (to remove UIDs)

    Hi

BSOD can be caused due to software conflict.
You could try Clean install with a healthy image, and sysprep directly without network connection. This should be the most reliable method.
Note turn off BitLocker in Control Panel if need.

I hope this information above can help you.
