Microsoft Certifications - booking using personal MS account issue

My account is a personal Microsoft account which holds my certifications. I used to have a linked Organisation (work) account but I left the company. Now when I try and book an exam against my personal account I get an error after the PearsonVue profile page which says I cannot access the booking resources using a personal account. So how do I book exams - do you have to be currently employed by an organisation with a Microsoft account to get certified??
