Add a local server in server manager

Hello,

how can I add my local server in server manager?
If I try to add my host via operate --> add server --> DNS --> enter host name
When I finally add my host I still don't see a server.

My goal is to install a Hyper-V but my server manager is still completely empty (without any server, rolls, features)!

Thanks in advance.

Edit: Could it be that I am confusing the client windows operating system (in my case win 10 pro) with a windows server operating system?

    Hi,

To add a server/client for managing under the Server Manager tool which can be found on any newer Windows Server, follow the steps below:

    1. Right-click "All Servers" and select "Add servers".

    2. Type in the server name under the "Active Directory" or "DNS" tab, then click "Find Now".

    3. Select your server/client and then click on the arrow to add it to the selected list on the right-hand side, then click "Ok".

    4. You should now see the added server/client under "All Servers" under Server Manager.

    Hi,
Thanks for your posting and kindly check my answer as below:
1.If I try to add my host via operate --> add server --> DNS --> enter host name
When I finally add my host I still don't see a server.

If the local server you would like to add is domain joint, you could follow steps above to add it into server pool. But if it is in workgroup, you need to first add it into TrustedHosts and then complete the add server wizard.

Server Manager cannot be used to manage computers or devices that are running a Windows client operating system. You can only use Server Manager to manage Windows-based servers.

Server Manager can run on Windows 10, but it can only target Windows Server systems.
