Hi

As you can see from the SMSTS.log file below, I get an error "Could not create WMI locator class (80040154)". I've removed the ADK already, reinstalled it, and tried different boot images, but kept getting this. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi, @Corne Van Der Westhuizen

Thanks very much for your feedback. We're glad that the problem is solved now. It seems the issue is indeed related to ADK. Here's a short summary for the problem, we believe this will help other users to search for useful information more quickly.

    Problem/Symptom:
SCCM PXE boot fail, device restart after loading drivers, below error messages show in SMSTS.log:
Could not create WMI locator class (80040154) TSBootShell 4/04/2022 10:22:01 am 1080 (0x0438)
    spNamespace.Open(pszNameSpace), HRESULT=80040154 (X:\bt\1204713\repo\src\Framework\TSCore\diskutils.cpp,1393) TSBootShell 4/04/2022 10:22:01 am 1080 (0x0438)
Failed to connect to WMI namespace .\ROOT\CIMV2 TSBootShell 4/04/2022 10:22:01 am 1080 (0x0438)

    Solution/Workaround:

    1. Uninstall ADK
    2. Reboot Server
    3. Remove PXE Role
    4. Remove WDS
    5. Reboot Server
    6. Delete RemoteInstall folder
    7. Reboot Server
    8. Install ADK
    9. Install ADK Preinstallation Environment Add-ons
    10. Add PXE Role, this installed WDS
    11. Reboot Server
    12. Create a New Boot WIM using "Create Boot Image using MDT" in SCCM
    13. Distribute the new custom boot wim
    14. Add it to the TS as PXE boot to use
    15. Build a device successfully

    Hi, @Corne Van Der Westhuizen

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.

What the ADK version did we use? When we remove and reinstall ADK, have we updated distribution points of the boot image with checking "Reload this boot image with the current Windows PE version from the Windows ADK"?
