And what's that good for? The column order doesn't matter in any way and your intent has more a facial effect then anything else.
Hogwash. Column order is very important. When you design a table, do you write down the column names on small piece of paper, put them in a hat, and then have someone to drag one out of the time, so that you get a complete random order?
Or do you by chance follow some pattern, like putting the PK column first, auditing column last etc?
Try unselecting the "Prevent saving changes that require table re-creation" option. (See menu, Tools, Options, Designers, Table and Database Designers).
That check is there for a reason. What happens under the covers is that SSMS create a new table and copy data over. This code is seriously buggy, or more exactly rotten from the inside out. So check that checkbox check, and run it manually.
