I have 10 pst files, with each file size at around 2~3GB. all indexes have been built completely.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

    Hi @dennis Chang ,

Thanks for your reply and good sharing! IAgree with you, if we are searching in the Archive Mailbox, we need to select Current Folder option as the search scope.

However, due to a recent update in forum policy, the question author now is not able to accept their own answers. I have written a brief summary of this issue. Please feel free to accept it as the answer to the question to help other community members. Thanks in advance.

    Issue Symptom:
When searching in Archive Mailbox, Outlook search time too long and returns incomplete results

    Solution:
You can search for items that were moved to an auto-expanded archive mailbox only by searching the folder itself. Select the archive folder in the folder list to select the Current Folder option as the search scope. If a folder in an auto-expanded storage area contains subfolders, you have to search each subfolder separately. For more information, see Overview of unlimited archiving in Microsoft 365.

    Hi @dennis Chang ,

    Welcome to our forum!

What's the version of your Outlook 2019? (File > Office Account > About Outlook). Please make sure you have upgraded your Outlook to the latest version.
And does this issue occur recently? If so, have you done any specific operations before that?

In order to check if the issue is related to Windows search, it's suggested that you could try to disable Windows Desktop Search to check if there're any differences, which will cause Outlook to use its built-in search. If it indeed related to Windows search, please refer to solutions introduced in this article for troubleshooting: Fix problems in Windows Search.

If still the issue after disabling Windows Search, considering profile is damaged, it is suggested that you could try to create a new profile(Control Panel>Mail>Show Profiles>add) and add the account for testing to check if there are some differences.

If the issue still exists, considering that it would also be affected when the Outlook program itself is damaged, it is recommended that you try to fix the Office application.

    Hope the above help!

    After referring to following link:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/troubleshooting-outlook-search-issues-2556b11f-f4d8-46be-b0a7-de33a3f4f066?ui=en-us&rs=en-us&ad=us#bkmk_incompleteresults

It seems this is a function deliberately designed by microsoft:

Select Current Folder as the search scope (only for incomplete search results in the Archive Mailbox)
When you search in Outlook using All Mailboxes or All Outlook Items scopes, limited or no results are returned for the Archive Mailbox.
