Hello, We are facing an issue while creating a folder or uploading a document library in SharePoint Online. The document library has a custom column "Versions" (not to be confused with out of the box available 'Version' column). In this document library, while creating a new folder or uploading any document, the system prompt an error -
"Multiple properties with the name 'Versions' were detected in an entry or a complex value. In OData, duplicate property names are not allowed."

please refer to below screenshot. However, this does not stop SharePoint from creating folder or uploading document. The folder is created and documents are uploaded. Its just this error. Does anyone has faced this issue or can suggest a possible method to resolve this?

The site consist of number of document libraries which were migrated from SharePoint 2013, it was working in SharePoint 2013. There are lots of documents, hence it is time consuming to create a new column and copy all the data. Also, its not an issue with migration, as it can be reproduced in a new document library in Sharepoint Online as well.

Steps to reproduce -

  1. In a document library, create a new column name "Versions" of type 'Choice'.
  2. After the column is created, try to create a new folder or upload a document. The error will be displayed as shown in in below screenshot.

Would appreciate anyone who can help in resolving this issue. Thanks

    Hi @Punkaj Ahuja ,

    Welcome to Q&A Forum!

This is because multiple attributes named "version" were detected in the entry or complex value.

There are several columns in SharePoint whose internal names contain 'version'. And, these columns are available out-of-the-box in SharePoint.

For reference purpose, below is the list of the display name and corresponding internal name for the default fields of a Document Library.

Since in SharePoint we cannot change the internal name of column, we recommend that you delete the column and create a new one (avoid including 'version')
