Hi all,

Was looking to implement Azure Files NFS 4.1 as it fulfills my zonal HA requirements. I was also planning to use Azure backup for the DB backup and VMs.

But i had heard that Azure backup is not supported with Azure Files NFS 4.1. Is this correct? Is there a common or popular alternative if so?

Thank you in advance.

@neamhshuntasach neamhshuntasach Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

As you mentioned, Azure Backup currently does not support NFS Shares. For NFS v4.1, you can use the following alternate solutions for backing up:

Backing up your data on NFS shares can either be orchestrated using familiar tooling like rsync or products from one of our third-party backup partners. Multiple backup partners including Commvault, Veeam, and Veritas and have extended their solutions to work with both SMB 3.x and NFS 4.1 for Azure Files. Please refer to this FAQ document for more details.
Please let us know if you have any further questions and we will be glad to assist you further. Thank you!
