The xaml editor goes wonky every now and again, I can usually replicate it by hitting ctrl-d on a <RowDefinition> tag to duplicate it. The editor hangs, clicking on the editor brings up a dialog up with the error

Clicking on cancel brings up on the XAML design window:

Closing and saving the file, then re-opening all is OK.

which version of Visual Studio and framework you use?

Have you any code in ctor or Loaded event of your Window/Page/UserControl class?

Does this happen in all projects or in a particular project? Does this also happen with other shortcut combinations (e.g., Ctrl+X)? What is your Visual Studio version number?When you use Ctrl+D to copy code, whether the control is named or not, and if so, the uniqueness of the control will also cause XAML errors.
