Workaround for Migrating users and roles from MongoDB to Cosmos DB API for MongoDB

Hi Team,

As of now users and roles are not supported in Cosmos DB API for MongoDB. This means that all the Applications has to use same credentials with one read-write and one read-only passkey available under connection string page of the account.
Is this a limitation until native RBAC is publicly available in API for Mongo DB (I know that its in private-preview as of now) or is there any workaround available to manipulate different credentials ?
Would really appreciate if anyone can share document if available on same.

Thanks & Regards,
Anoop

Hi, @Vaikakkara, Anoop Thanks for the ask and for using the Microsoft Q&A platform.
As we understand the ask here is you want to know if there is a workaround available to manipulate different credentials? correct me if my understanding is wrong.

RBAC is the API for MongoDB that is available as a public gated preview. if you are interested in trying that then it will address all the issues mentioned.

Here’s the public doc for this: Configure role-based access control for your Azure Cosmos DB API for MongoDB database (preview) | Microsoft Learn

Please let me know if this is helpful or tell us more about your query if you are facing any issues.

    Regards
    Geetha
