One Drive - How secure is it ?

Hiya, in our company we have been hounded by the one drive desktop app looking to backup your documents\pictures\desktop to one drive.
All our users have E5 licenses
Can you someone explain how secure one drive is? ie: data is encrypted ? We are reluctant to backup corporate data.
We have MFA enabled for every user and users can only use corporate devices else they fail Conditional Access.
So we are some what secure on our end, just need clarity on how the data is secured.
