I would love to see this, as I just want a backup for when my phone goes down.
Why is there not an MFA Authenticator App for Windows ?????
The reason can not be that MS wants you to need to devices to login, since you can login to the service on a mobile device and then authenticate on the same device.
Windows is Microsoft's platform so WHY do they not make an Authenticator app for it?
This is incredibly inconvenient and a major user experience miss..
Can this basic feature please be prioritized?
I want my kids to be able to login to 365 without having to use a separate mobile device.
I am incredibly frustrated by this miss.
This is really the use case of Windows Hello authentication, that's really the OS foundation of having a 2nd factor authentication. Your Password, along with (Face or Fingerprint or PIN).
But if you don't like that, you can still use any 2FA/MFA app on the PC. They are pretty much universal, they're just taking the seed and creating a code that changes every 30 seconds from it. But if you pair your authentication to the PC as the "device you own" part of the MFA chain, then you'll also be unable to use your mobile device because you can only use one at a time. It's a relationship between multiple devices that provides the trusted chain of authentication.

I believe the reason for this is because of security and want to have the two factor authentication on a separate device. I have always believed that having the second authentication system on the same device is a bit strange and compromises security.
There are locations online that can be found via google where you can register your interest in having the app released for windows 10.
