SCCM - MP IN CRITICAL with 0 bytes - MP Control Manager detected MP is not responding to HTTP requests. The http error is 2147500037.

Dear experts,

I'm in the middle of making PKI for our MECM server. After select HTTPS for MP properties, it showed this error

MP Control Manager detected MP is not responding to HTTP requests. The http error is 2147500037.

Possible cause: MP service is not started or not responding.
Solution: Manually restart the SMS Agent Host service on the MP.

Possible cause: IIS service is not responding.
Solution: Manually restart the W3SVC service on the MP.

I monitored the logs and after 20 mins it showed successful installation, but this Critical icon didn't go away. after 3 hours, I didn't see any errors in WCM or WSUSsetup logs now.
I've rebooted our CM server also client PC but still PC didn't show PKI signed.
Please help to advise what area I can look into.

    Hi,

    Thanks very much for your feedback. Here's a short summary for the problem:

    Problem/Symptom:
    After changed to HTTPS mode, MP Control Manager detected MP is not responding to HTTP requests with the error 2147500037.

    Solution/Workaround:
    The root CA is using SHA-1, but from SCCM version 1906, client requires SHA-2 code signing support to work correctly. We need to migrate from SHA1 to SHA2.

    Thanks for your reply and information.

    You may find the culprit. You could uncheck the box "Require SHA-256" to have a try. If it doesn't work, we may need to migrate from SHA1 to SHA2.

    Effective January 1, 2017, Windows will no longer trust certificates signed with SHA-1. Per the official document, we need to use SHA-2 certificate for MECM. Refer to:

    Thanks for posting in Microsoft MECM Q&A forum.

    From the log, it seems that the client doesn't have a valid certificate. Per my experience, you are migrating form HTTP to HTTPS in Configuration Manager. Please mark sure you have PKI certificates for clients and servers in SCCM. Refer to:

    Here are some good guides for your reference:

    Step-by-step example deployment of the PKI certificates for Configuration Manager

    Here are some key points you can check:

    1. Create the certificate Template (ConfigMgr Clients (if the workstation is not already in place), ConfigMgr IIS Servers and ConfigMgr DP Servers);
    2. Request the certificates;
    3. On the IIS servers, change the bind to allow HTTPS port (default 443) and select the certificate;
    4. Export the Root CA (and any other CA) certificate and import it into SCCM. Note, do not force the SCCM to use PKI, instead, allow it to use HTTP or HTTPS;
    5. For each client, confirm that the Client Certificate is set to PKI (you can easily check the HKLM\Software\Microsoft\CCM\HttpsState and HKLM\Software\Microsoft\CCM\PKICertReady). or you can check the Report Clients incapable of HTTPS communication;
    6. Confirm that you can navigate to HTTPS://;
    7. From the server, confirm that you can navigate to the CRL for the certificate selected;
    8. From the client, confirm that you can navigate to the CRL for the certificate;
    9. On the console, add the column “Client Certificate” and confirm that it is set to PKI” for all clients (this may take couple of days/week to be completed);
    10. Once all machines are ready to use HTTPS, migrate the MP and check the logs: MPSetup, MPMSI & MPControl;

    Dear all,

    I just noticed that our CA server used SHA1 however SCCM site properties require sha-265.

    is it related? if yes, any way we can rectify it?
