Sharepoint Online create an external list to on premise sql database

Hello,

I want to create an external list to on premise sql server using the business connectivity service. I know that you can do that with SharePoint On Premise using SharePoint Designer. Can I do the same with SharePoint Online.

You can still use BCS with SharePoint Online but because of the lack of some features, and the difficulty in getting the connections to work with permissions, people switched to using PowerApps instead.

Keep in mind SharePoint searching is not available using BCS so you would need to setup some fancy filtering instead.
