Windows 2019 Server Web.config Encryption/Decryption Issue

I have upgraded (in-place upgrade) Windows server 2012 R2 to 2019 server. I was not able to decrypt web.config after the OS upgrade. I tried outside of IIS server as well, it does not work.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @BarnPatti ,

Did you encrypt the web.config with any encryption program in server2012R? Usually web.config will not be affected by server system upgrades. Now when you open web.config, what is displayed? Have you tried opening it with VS or VScode?

Encrypted the web.config after the upgrade in Windows Server 2019. The issue here is decryption fails.

I'm having the same issue. Was this ever resolved?
