Per this article. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/add-or-remove-an-email-alias-in-outlook-com-459b1989-356d-40fa-a689-8f285b13f1f2?ui=en-us&rs=en-us&ad=us for O365 family I cannot change the primary alias as the make primary does show on my screen and I am the admin.

Any suggestions

I followed those instructions that were given on the set up site. However, i can only send from my hotmail account, not the custom domain. That is the issue.

I still have no answer as to how to set your default send from email to be the alias created not the base hotmail account.

There are some limitations to the primary alias.
Note: "You can't change your primary alias to an email address that's associated with a work or school account."

So if you want to connect a domain that have Microsoft 365 already it's not possible.

Sorry for the lack of clarity. The question was MO365 family. Their site says you can have a custom domain so I presumed you can set that as your default send from address?

Thank you for clearifying, there is information in their FAQ. So to make this work for you, the domain need to be registered at GoDaddy.

I already own a domain that's registered with a provider other than GoDaddy. Can I set up a personalized email address in Outlook.com?
At the moment, we only support connecting domains managed by GoDaddy with Outlook.com.

If your domain is already registered there:
Go to Settings > Premium > Personalized email address and check the status of your domain.

If there is no Personalized email address tab, it means GoDaddy did not successfully connect your domain to Outlook.com. Go to Settings > Premium > Features and select Get started.

Select the I already own a GoDaddy domain option and follow the steps in the process.
