security update installation result not tally

hi,

we encounter issue on windows 2016 running exchange 2016 servers whereby the OS security update installation result were not tally, in the control panel installed patches, and powershell get-hotfix it's showed as installed but in the event log is showing error installing the update, and our sccm had pushed the patch to it and pending reboot, is this a bug?

    Hi,

    If you decide not to reboot your computers after you install critical- or security-related updates, your computer will not be patched yet and will still be vulnerable to bugs. Event ID 21 warns you if the computer is set to not reboot.

    In Event Viewer, under Application and Services Logs\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdateClient should show you return errors.
