I have a student account. When trying to create Azure Synapse Analytics there is an error: "Customer subscription X needs to be registered with Microsoft.Sql resource provider." When checking resource providers Microsoft.Sql has the unchanging status of "Registering".
Anyone know how to help?

Are you still experiencing the same problem?. If yes, I would request to cancel the registering and re-try again.
In case, if you are still facing the same problem, I would request you to try registering resource provider using other methods like Azure PowerShell or CLI.
Hi, thanks for reacting. Apparently it took a day for the registering to complete, so all is good now. Would be nice if that was mentioned somewhere though, I searched everywhere but could not find anything on this.

Glad to know your issue has resolved. Generally, it would not take more than 5 mins to register any resource provider. If it takes more time, you would have tried re-register by using the alternate methods.
Tried the other method (via Shell) as well after 15 minutes of waiting, but it took forever as well. Thanks again for your support!

I am with the same problem, and tomorrow I'll try it again, because my Microsoft.Sql is register and appears ok.
It works 24 hours after my registration.
