What ist OneSettings Service?

Martin 1 Reputation point

Hi all,

the Windows group policy settings offer two configurations for OneSettings Service:

  • Disable OneSettings Downloads
  • Enable OneSettings Auditing

Does anyone know what "OneSettings Service" is?

A family of Microsoft operating systems that run across personal computers, tablets, laptops, phones, internet of things devices, self-contained mixed reality headsets, large collaboration screens, and other devices.

    Hello Martin7902

Indeed there is little to none information online regarding the OneSettings service, but my only understanding is that it is a service MS "provides/requires" as of later OS builds that offers to report telemetry data back to MS about OS health, build info, etc. in order to keep the computer "healthy"

    Hi LimitlessTechnology,

many thanks for your reply. Do I get that right: The OneSettings “service” is not a service running in Windows (e.g. like IP Helper, Netlogon, …). Instead of that it is a service hosted by Microsoft (in the cloud/internet)?
