Agree with eugene-astafiev, I'm afraid that the issue is more related to the app1 itself. It's suggested that you could contact the developer of the app1 for more suggestion.
On the other hand, please kindly understand that the Outlook tag here we mainly focus on general issues about Outlook desktop client, considering the issue is related to development, I will add "office-exchange-server-dev" and "office-vba-dev".

Extended MAPI doesn't provide any dialogs for authenticating users. A responsibility of the app1 developer is to detect and handle such errors in the code, so the users get any information what is going on under the hood. So, I'd suggest contacting the app1 developer with such questions.
Ok thanks for that info as I didn't know that.
But what for the modern auth that pops up everytime MAPI tries to send an email even tho the extended profil has the password entered ?
I now have 2 apps from 2 different tenant report that it started poping for credentials last week.
Has microsoft changed anything from the default configuration of a tenant ?
