Hi All,
We have Teams tenant setup without federation and Telephony.
i have a major concern in UPN setup in our environment.
currently UPN is set up as employeeid@publicdomain.com
SMTP= firstnamelastname@publicdomain.com
i would like to know what could be the impact if didn't change the UPN similar to SMTP
is it must to have UPN=SMTP=SIP?
For Teams meeting rooms is it must to have UPN=SMTP?
what are the other issues if we didn't change the UPN similar to SMTP

It is best practice to have the person's logon UPN match their primary SMTP address. In this blog, it give you some example of possible impaction if you do not change your UPN:

I need some details more specifically to Team. I am aware of the issues which are being highlighted in the article.

2022-05-06T08:15:31.757+00:00 If you're creating resource accounts for Teams Rooms, the UPN must match the SMTP address of the resource account. You could see Microsoft Teams Rooms requirements before you deploy Teams Rooms.
