Inspiron 7386 2-in-1 Laptop Crashes when Charging W10

Anon 312 1 Reputation point

Hello everyone,

I have a Dell Inspiron 7386 2-in-1 laptop, and the laptop crashes without BSOD whenever it is plugged into the charger. Whether it be the AC adapter or the docking station plugged into the USBC port that also delivers power.

All drivers and software is up to date, including BIOS and docking station drivers.

The laptop works fine when it is not plugged in and just on battery power, but whenever power touches it, it crashes relatively quickly.

The battery still charges when the laptop is off and again its operational when the laptop is just on battery.

Any ideas or suggestions? I do see in the device manager that there is a an Unknown USB Device that has stopped working - Code 43. Although I am not sure if this is related since this is happening with the normal AC adapter as well.

    Hi there,

Based on your findings there is a high possibility that this might be due to some hardware failures. Search for any bug checks and BugCheck 124 is almost always a hardware problem. I would suggest you to contact Dell or run some diagnostic tool by Dell to find out any faculty hardware.

You can follow these below articles to find the driver and memory leak which is causing you this issue. Memtest is easy to use and is an accurate test of your computer memory. It can tell you if your memory is bad, a motherboard slot is bad, etc.

    Memory problems.

Once you find the faulty drivers you can then update or reinstall the specific driver to rectify this issue.

The below thread discusses the same issue and you can try out some troubleshooting steps from this and see if that helps you to sort the Issue.
