Edge IE Mode using incorrect compatibility mode

We have a site configured to use IE mode in Edge, but no matter what I change, the compatibility mode always shows IE5:

I've tried setting various compatibility modes using the Enterprise Mode Site List Manager, but the changes never seem to take effect. Is there a way to otherwise set the compatibility mode? The site works fine directly in IE 11 with no compatibility options set.

I came here with the same problem. It's being defined in my sites.xml as IE11, but it's switching to 5.

To better understand the issue, I would like to confirm the following:

What is the version of Edge that found this issue?

Whether this problem only occurs in a specific site?(you can try public sites such as google, bing, etc)

What is the compat-mode property in the configuration file?(If possible, you can provide a completed configuration file with private information removed)

In addition, after the configuration is finish, you can navigate to edge://compat and click Force Update button to check if the configuration took effect.

This is on Edge version 101.0.1210.32

This only occurs on the sites I have configured to use IE Mode because they do not work in modern browsers. If I manually switch to IE mode on Bing or Google, it shows IE11 for the compatibility mode.

I have tried multiple compat-mode options: Default, IE11, IE8Enterprise. With all of them, when I browse to the site it will load in IE mode, but the compatibility mode shows as IE5, and the site does not work correctly.198200-iemodesites.xml

I've checked edge://compat and can confirm the configuration changes are loading and taking effect, but the issue persists.

Thanks for your reply, for the configuration file you provided, we tested it and found that only the last one url is accessible, and it works correctly in IE 11 mode instead of IE 5 compatibility mode. This is the test result?platform=QnA

So we still need more info to confirm this issue. If possible, please provide the screenshot of the pages in these urls: edge://compat/enterprise and edge://compat/iediagnostic.

Also, this issue may be related to whether the IE feature is installed correctly, you can simply refer to this case and try to check if the same situation exists.

I fixed the same issue by changing the registry key
HKLM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Internet Explorer/BrowserEmulation/MSCompatibilityMode from “1” to “0”.
