Self hosted IR and Data gateway on the same VM

I have heard in a couple of videos that we should avoid setting up a self hosted IR on the same machine where we have already installed the On Premises Data Gateway.

Can someone provide a more logical and technical reasoning behind it?

Hey,
It is not right to install both Integration Runtime and Power BI gateway in same machine, because mainly Integration Runtime using port number 443, which is one of the main ports being used by Power BI gateway as well, so ideally this is not possible both applications listening to same port.

This would be true if the SHIR was a server. I thought it just makes outbound calls on port 443 to Azure DF as opposed to listening on port 443. If it was a server, then that will also likely mean it cannot be installed on a machine that has IIS and running websites.
