Hello everyone, I want a recommendation.

I am in the process of updating patches for my SQL Server 2016, I currently have patch CU17 KB 5001092 13.0.5888.11 and I see that the latest one is RTW/PCU3 KB 5003279
13.0.6300.2.

Is there any sequence or can I apply the latest update that corresponds to SP3.

Thank you very much for your comments.

CU = Cumulative Update and cumulated means here it includes all previous update.
Yes, you can always install the latest CU without any previous updates.

    Hi @Rafael Ponce ,

CU17 KB 5001092 13.0.5888.11 is applied to SQL server 2016 SP2. 5003279 13.0.6300.2(SP3) is the latest SP for SQL server 2016.

    > Is there any sequence or can I apply the latest update that corresponds to SP3.

Yes, you can. Please apply the latest SP3 to SQL server 2016 directly. Then apply KB5006943 - On-demand hotfix update package for SQL Server 2016 SP3. We always suggest customer to apply the latest patch to SQL server. The latest patch contains all fix in previous patch.

All patches are cumulative. You only need to apply the latest.

    Hi there,

    just take a look here:
    https://sqlserverbuilds.blogspot.com/#sql2016x

With build 13.0.5888.11 you're on SQL Server 2016 SP2 CU 17 as you already stated out.
    So just go for SP3

    Best regards
    Dirk
