Hi @glnzglnz ,
Before going further, could you please tell me what email account you are using? O365 accounts, Exchange server accounts or other accounts such as Gmail accounts?
when I send an email from Me2@wifebiz.com, I want the recipient to see the old familiar email address Me@wifebiz.com as the "From" name. It would also be OK for his Replies to go to the old Me@wifebiz.com.
As I know, if you are using O365 accounts or Exchange server accounts, the Send As permissions seems could perfectly meet your needs. It could allow the delegate to send messages as if they came directly from the mailbox or group. There's no indication that the message was sent by the delegate. For more information about Send As permissions and how to enable it, please check this official document.
If you are using other accounts such as Gmail, I'm afraid that we might not be able to achieve what you mentioned. We could indeed change the alias of email account, but when configure alias the same as an existed email address, it will show errors like "This email address is already taken. Please try another email address".
Then, from this perspective, it seems that we may could found other workarounds to reduce the size of your previous mailbox, for example, using Outlook archive feature to keep items stored in a local .pst file and removed permanently from your mail server. Or, if possible, move items in your your previous mailbox to your new mailbox. Just for your reference.
