How to enable application permissions for Graph on a React Teams app?

Hi,
So I'm trying to access this Graph endpoint on a Teams application I'm building but I cant figure out how to initialize teamsfx so that the identity type is an application instead of a User because this endpoint is only accessible with application permissions. I'm using the hooks from @microsoft/teamsfx-react taken from some teams sample application but there seems to be little documentation. Any help would be nice.

2022-05-20T02:46:57.357+00:00 Ive also tried to initialise a teamsfx object with the identity type set to application but I get an error stating that the application identity is not allowed. The teamsfx documentation suggests you can though.
