Hello Teams Community,

Please i need your help on this.

I have tried to update Teams Desktop App it reported back saying it was updated.

With further testing, Check for updates may work however requires more than 1 attempt.

Additionally, it appears that the automatic check for updates is either not triggering or is failing.

Is there a way I can programmatically initiate the check for updates (e.g. can I use %localappdata%\Microsoft\Teams\update.exe to download the latest nupkg file and install it?) or how can I get the automatic update to work?

    Hi @IBN ,

There are multiple reasons that can prevent Microsoft Teams from automatically updating so it's suggested to go through the factors listed below and see if any one matches the situation you are experiencing:

    • When Microsoft Teams is installed to the Program Files folder (such as by using installation scripts) rather than to the default location, the client won't automatically update when new versions are available.
    • Microsoft Teams will update only when Teams is idle. If a user powers off the computer when finished using Teams, Teams will have no way to run the update process.
    • Users need to be signed in for updates to be downloaded.

More details, you may refer to: Teams does not automatically update.
