Same problem here and we are on CU11
Outlook 2019 and 2021 does not show any search suggestion

Hello everyone,
I hope you will be able to guide me on my long term issue where I have newly installed outlook 2019 and 2021 on two different PCs and connect it to exchange account (Exchange 2019). When I try to search I do not see any suggested emails from my inbox / sub-folders. I have tried many t-shooting steps like repair office, repair profile, start in safe mode and rebuild indexing but nothing really help. I'm not sure if I do anything wrong or this suggested search with names or mail addresses are not supported in Outlook 2019/2021 with on prem exchange. This has never worked before therefore I appreciate if you can suggest if this might work or not.

- Can the search work properly using subject or other keywords (without using names or mail addresses)?
- Check if any difference with Outlook cached mode and online mode
- Please also verify if users have the same search issue when use OWA? (This can be used to determine if the issue is related to server or client side)

Thanks for your replay! I'm using CU9 and I'm pretty sure your recommendation will be to go with the latest CU11. Is search function impacted by CU of Exchange?
- Search function works fine, if I know the key word, there is no suggestion about mail subject, see attached screenshot
- The result is the same
- Using OWA I can see at least GAL users when I type 3 letters from their name, however cannot see suggestion on subject or other key words
Also thanks for the links explaining how to fix search/indexing in Exchange 2019. First of all, let me upgrade Exchange to CU11 with the latest security updates and see if this will improve, and possibly use the fixes posted in the links.

We have the exact same issue. Our "big issue" is, when searching for persons, they dont appear!

Same issue here, running Server 2022 RDS with newest Outlook and Exchange Server 2019 CU11!

2022-05-30T09:11:43.477+00:00 I've upgraded Exchange 2019 with the latest CU12 and there is no improvement in regards of suggested search in Search field. I've also again rebuild indexing and re-create user profile in outlook. No change compare to CU9.
While I use OWA I can search at least users from GAL. This is not available in Outlook.
Would you suggest how to fix suggested search in Oultook?Thank you!

no success, if I type few letters of the username in syntax from:frant... no suggestion about user name appear. If I do it in OWA GAL username will appear. However if I type user outside of GAL, e.g. to user to whom I sent an email in past outside of the organization, this suggestion will not appear in search field.
If I hit enter related emails will appear.
If needed, can we do online session to see the configuration and possibly find the fix?

Sorry for late reply, I upgrade my environment to the latest version of Exchange 2019 and reproduced the problem as yours. I tried modifying the registry key but no success. This seems to be a bug in Exchange 2019 search. So here I submit a feedback to report this issue, you could upvote it to let Microsoft know this information.
