MDT 2013 WinPE image storing aged credentials

Hello, I have set up a WDS / MDT deployment server as per the link below:

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/deploy-windows-mdt/prepare-for-windows-deployment-with-mdt

I have used the following steps of this guide:

  • Prepare for deployment with MDT
  • Create a Windows 10 reference image
  • Deploy a Windows 10 image using MDT I already have an existing domain setup to work with, so I have substituted all the Contoso domain parameters for the one I'm currently working on, other than this and a few minor directory name changes I have followed the guide to the letter, however without the DaRT setup as we do not use this. I have created a Capture Image using the "Create a Windows 10 Reference Image" steps, this works as it should according to the guide. The problem I am having lies in the "Deploy a Windows 10 image using MDT".

I have a PXE environment setup to boot into the WinPE image derived from the MDT Production share as specified by the guide, however the WinPE image does not seem to be storing credentials properly. It is using old test credentials to access shares rather than the actual username and password required. I have rebuilt the images from scratch several times after deleting the contents of the boot directory to ensure a 'clean' reproduction.

After this I have deleted the current boot image for the PXE environment and re-added it with the newly generated one. However against all expectations it is still using incorrect credentials, when both the Bootstrap.ini file and the Rules involved are using the correct credentials when visually inspected via the Workbench GUI. Please can someone advise on this? It's most annoying as I've gotten 90% towards the goal I wanted to achieve and this is a severe obstacle. Apparently it's a known bug, but I haven't been able to find a suggested solution for it that works.

Many thanks,

Chris Stendall

    Hello,

Unfortunately I was unable to resolve the issue with DaleKuduzi-MSFT's proposed response, after some further investigation I was able to resolve the matter by completely deleting the Deployment share associated with the WinPE ISO in question and re-creating it from scratch.

    Apologies for the late response.
