Hi Everyone,

I am a IT employee at a company for a year now. We have currently some problems with resetting company smartphones. I see at the forum that there has not been solution yet.

So what is the proces of the problem?
Employee is leaving the office > Smartphone is returned to the IT-Servicedesk > IT servicedesk has forgotten to write down a pincode of the smartphone > The company has very expensive nokia 3.4 brick.

What is my qeustion?
We are using intune/mdm to enforce company policies. We have had disabled a factory reset, but now it is enabled. The problem is if the smartphone is not in connection with intune you have an expensive brick. A counter measure for this is if the IT-Servicedesk asks for pincodes of the employee, but sometimes they forget to do this. So we want to perform a hard reset. We are using Nokia 3.4 smartphones, but of some reason I cannot enter recovery mode. I don't know and couldn't find out if intune is blocking this. When I using volume up + power button, the phone just restarts and doesn't give me a menu of recovery mode. I can enter the bootloader, but not recovery mode. So here is my qeustion:

  • How can I enter recovery mode?
  • How can I hard reset the nokia 3.4? (Yes I read the f* manual)
  • Will the phone be ready for the next user if I perform a hard reset?
  • Are there any settings I need to check if recovery mode is disabled?

Thank in advance

@arjuna_svr , Thanks for posting in Q&A. From your description, I know you want to do a hard reset while the Nokia device is locked.

Based on my research, I find the following steps to factory reset the device. You can try to see if ti works.
    https://www.verizon.com/support/knowledge-base-226489/
Note: Non-Microsoft link, just for the reference.

However, if it is still not working, you can check if Google account is logged in on the device, and the device is connected to the internet. If yes, you can use Find My Device to erase it to see if it helps.

After the hard reset is performed, we can delete the previous device records in Intune and AAD and perform a new enroll for the new user.

    Hope it can help.
