CU for Windows Server 2019 (1809) for x64-based Systems (KB5013941) - Error 0x8000ffff

Hi team,

I have a Windows Server 2019 machine, and there are no CU updates installed from 09.21
The last KB that is installed is KB5004335.

I am trying to install CU (KB5013941) from the windows update, and it fails with error 0x8000ffff.
I tried to install it manually ( with admin rights ) and there is a pop up message "windows update standalone installed - the update is not applicable to your computer"
I checked the event viewer logs, and there is error "Windows update could not be installed because of error 2149842967"

I have tried with restarting the services, but this did not help.
Also I tried cleanup the WinSxS, still the same issue.

Can you guys please suggest what seems to be the issue? Do I need to install another KB?

Hi there,

If the update that you're trying to install already has a newer version of the payload on your system, you might receive this error message. Check that the package that you are installing contains newer versions of the binaries.

The other common reasons for this error are described in the below article, you can try out some troubleshooting steps from this and see if that helps you to sort the Issue. If you’re sure the update matches both Windows platform and architecture, check that it hasn’t already been installed. Another update might have had the same payload
