Windows Server Licensing

Hi all,

I am looking for clarification around Windows Server hosting rights (if any) in non-Azure or any of the other major DCs. We are supplying hardware and DC is providing rack space and power. The DC host isnt a SPLA provider. Can we purchase Windows server licences and use them on the hardware in the DC? I understand Windows server doesnt come up with license mobility rights. Also, hybrid use rights arent applicable as this isnt in Azure.

The application in question is compute heavy (making Azure extremely expensive).

Thanks in advance

Hello InderSingh,

Since the scenario you present is highly complex both in relation with resources and billing, the main recommendation would get consulting services from one of the Microsoft Partners in your area. You can find more information on how to find them and services here:

    Hi all,

Thank you for the reply. The doc. reaffirms collateral I have been looking at myself too. I was hoping for slightly more black and white response, but this probably reaffirms what I have read so far.
