SQL Server Express 2019 / Windows 11 installation error

I am trying to install SQL Server Express 2019 on W11, with Admin privileges.
The installations runs fine up to a point where I get this error

TITLE: SQL Server 2019 Setup

SQL Server Setup has encountered the following error:

Classe non valida (not a valid class)

Error code 0x84B10001.

The error is generated a couple of times, if I cancel the error message, installation resumes but when it approaches the end a new error is raised. It's the first installation and I have chosen Default Instance as I don't have any previous SQL instance on the machine- Although the uninstaller sees all the components, Windows menu fails to show SQL Server and most of the other usual tools, which seem to have been installed but can not be run. I installed and removed a few times, removing some options I don't really need (i.e. ML, components, including Python) but nothing works. Can anyone kindly help me?

In the folder C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\150\Setup Bootstrap\Log, there is one folder per login attempt. The most interesting are Summary.txt and Detail.txt. The latter is very verbose.

Reading the log files is not most amusing activity, but sometimes you find the reason for the failure. Sometimes, well, you, do not. And I can't say that I'm optimistic in your case - the issue here seems to be with the Setup program itself, suggesting that your machine has some issue.

But still, let's give the log files a try.

Can you share your error log with us? Detailed error information is in there, only the error code can not represent anything, it can correspond to many different types of errors.

At this stage, you can try to download a new ISO from Microsoft, and try install again
