Good afternoon,

I have a question about resetting a windows 10. For a long time I always used to do it with the built-in tool, but I was told at work that now we have to do a complete format to prevent data recovery. What I don't know is if the windows tool does a quick format or a full format. Could you please clarify this for me.

Thanks.

Resetting reinstalls Windows 10, but lets you choose whether to keep your files or remove them, and then reinstalls Windows. You can reset your PC from Settings, the sign-in screen, or by using a recovery drive or installation media.

Go to Start > Settings > Update & security > Recovery, click Get started and select the appropriate option. Then follow the on-screen instructions to restore Windows 10 to a factory fresh state.
