They need to add this 'feature'. I want visual representation that I'm speaking like what I see when others speak.

Swapping from Webex to Teams, I notice there is no way to see if there is any sound coming in through my mic in the middle of a meeting. Webex has a visual representation (on the mute button) so that if you had background noise or you forgot to mute it was easy to see. Teams does not seem to have this feature and only shows when other people are talking.
Am I missing something, or is Teams just missing this very simple feature? Can anyone recommend an alternative?

Based on my test result, when someone is speaking, their tile will be highlighted in a purply-blue like the following pictures, could you check if you have it?

Anonymous2023-04-05T07:44:32.4166667+00:00 +1 I just switched from Zoom and I have the very same cognitive dissonance - when others are speaking a purple border is shown around their camera/avatar but when I'm speaking the same is not true (i.e. I see my camera preview but there is no border rendered when I'm speaking) so I'm never sure if I'm audible (e.g. because my headphones have a mute switch of their own) which is quite annoying.

2023-04-05T08:28:07+00:00 Actually - the same if true for the Mute icon - which is rendered when someone else is muted by on my video preview it's not shown (guessing that's due to the fact that the preview is a raw camera stream?)

I recommend turning off AGC in settings and setting the mike level manually, especially if some people are close together. With AGC on if you stop talking the mike gain increases until it picks up something or it reaches maximum gain

2023-10-17T22:44:09.3133333+00:00 I can't stress enough how bad this missing feature is. First, let's change the term from "talking" to "transmitting audio".
There's a software voice cancellation feature in the client, however in an office as a meeting participant I have NO IDEA whether I'm polluting the call with random background noise as the software noise cancellation certainly isn't NVIDIA Broadcast (which requires a proper GPU, which I have at home where, ironically, my ageing Burmese cat excepted, it's 100% quiet).
For participants not to know whether they are transmitting audio is very, very disruptive, and completely breaks the flow of the meeting.
Basically I will have to mute myself entirely, and perhaps unnecessarily, and only unmute myself to talk. This breaks the natural flow of conversation.
I need to be able to focus on the meeting, not whether or not I'm muted properly.
It's at the point where, as a tech lead, if I can influence the decision, I'm using a different provider to Teams - e.g. WebEx, Hangouts - anything but Teams.
To make this crystal clear: I can see other participants' blue actively transmitting audio boxes fine, but I also need one on MY OWN FACE when I'm transmitting audio. I was dismayed to see that even the new version of the client that's just being pushed out now as a trial doesn't have this. Please listen to this feedback, thanks.
