Hello all,

Im pretty new in the area of laptops and ive run into a slight problem. Im trying to install windows 10 OS onto a new drive and windows set up doesn’t recognize the drive is there.

(Looks like i cant insert photos) I got to the stage where it says “Windows Setup”and “Where do you want to install windows”

Once I got to here nothing showed up even when I pressed “Load Driver”

Ive checked the bios and it seems ok

Photo 1:

I pressed f2 > Storage Test > Hard Drive/SSD Tests and after doing both the extensive and quick tests, drive 1 (drive im installing), is recognized and passed a few checks.

Photo 2:

After pressing f10 (BIOS Setup Utility) > Boot Options > UEFI Boot Order

  1. USB Flash Drive/USB Hard Disk
  2. OS Boot Manager
  3. USB CD/DVD ROM Drive
  4. ! USB Network Adapter

I found this 15-dy2024nr windows laptop

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c07905298

and wanted to upgrade the storage to a HP EX900 Plus 512GB NVMe PCIe M.2

I have used an M.2 adapter and it was working just fine.

I also messed with the partitions a bit but reset it to a clean state (i think just partition 2)

    Hello

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

Based on the information you provided, it seems that the Windows setup is not detecting the new drive you installed. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

    1. Check if the drive is properly connected to the laptop. Make sure that the M.2 adapter is securely attached to the motherboard.
    2. Check if the drive is compatible with your laptop. Verify if the HP EX900 Plus 512GB NVMe PCIe M.2 is compatible with your laptop's specifications.
    3. Check if the drive is enabled in the BIOS. Go to the BIOS settings and check if the drive is enabled in the storage configuration.
    4. Try changing the boot order in the BIOS. Set the boot order to prioritize the drive where you want to install Windows.
    5. Try using a different Windows installation media. The issue may be caused by a corrupted installation media.

If none of these steps work, you may need to seek assistance from a professional technician or contact the manufacturer for further support.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Best Regards,

    Zack Lu
