How can I add an unknown extension to the list that appears in "Choose default apps by file type" ?

I am attempting to manually associate files with the extension of .zip and .7z with the 7-zip program. For some reason, neither the zip nor 7z extension appears in the list that would allow me to associate them. Although the 7-zip program does appear in Add or Remove, it does not appear in the list to "Set defaults by app" either. How can I edit or add to either or both of these lists?

By the way, the below tags have literally nothing to do with this question. There are no tags available that match the question, yet the form requires I choose something.

    Hello

Thank you for your question and reaching out.

Please note 7zip is Third party program , But in your case you can Press Shift Key and Right on File you want to open with 7zip.

Also you can try Uninstall 7zip and Reinstall with newest version of 7zip.

Please make sure you open 7zip program by Right click and Run As Administrator so that you can associate unknown extensions.
