Tomcat10 not able to connect using private IP

Hello,

I am trying to install Tomcat10 Ubuntu on Azure VM connected by SSH.

My Azure VM only has a private IP (I do not want a public IP).
Problem: Tomcat will only connect to browser using a public IP (8080), which I don't have.

Is there anyway to connect to Tomcat using a private IP?

Please help! I am slowly losing the will to live, it's been 4 days already.

I believe it should connect on private IP too. Have you tried to connect through browser on your private IP, for example, like this http://10.0.1.4:8080/ or http://localhost:8080/?

If there is any connection issue or refused, you could perhaps try to enable firewall in VM for tomcat server. From Control Panel\System and Security\Windows Defender Firewall
than select Allowed apps and select tomcat 10 from bin folder.

Also can you please try to navigate to NGS of the VM and make sure port 8080 is open on NSG?

If you are also not able to access tomcat from remote, there might be reason that taken port is not open in your machine. Suppose you have taken 8080 Port.
Configure your port and then shutdown and start your tomcat and it will be accessible from remote as well.

In addition to my comments above, probably the webserver binding needs to be configured for Private IP. It might be currently bound to localhost or 127.0.0.1 IP. You might have to change it to the actual private IP address by editing the Tomcat configuration file.
