Can't open any file while running xlsm in excel

Question

I wrote a vba program to control the workers tasks at the office. This is a userform with commandbuttons and comboboxes in it. It was made to stay opened through the day, but when we try to open another excel file (.csv, .xlsx, etc.) it simply doesn't happen. We have to close the userform and therefore the workbook so qe can open the another file. My vba program runs a clock that records all the activities. How can I keep it opened and work with other files at the same time?
