SCCM DP error : Site System Status Summarizer still cannot access storage object "\\DP\C$\SMS" on site system "\\DP"

Question

I am seeing below error on SCCM distribution point which was recently build from scratch

Error : Site System Status Summarize still cannot access storage object "\DP\C$\SMS" on site system "\DP". The operating system reported error 3: The system cannot find the path specified.

When i logged on to DP server, SMS folder and DP contents are installed on D drive. nothing is in c drive.
also there was no no_sms_on_drive.sms kept in C drive while installing this new DP.

May i know is there any way or registry edits so that it should check the correct drive D$\SMS?

There is clearly another root cause here that may be indicative of other issues that simply editing the registry won't address. My guess is that someone moved the folders manually instead of properly removing the roles and re-adding them to the system after a blank no_sms_on_drive.sms file was place on the C volume.

I strongly suggest you do this now (remove the roles and site system, add the file, and then reinstall the roles). Anything else is just asking for issues down the road.

Please help check the sitestat.log and SMSdpmon.log to see if there are any further information about the DP status. If possible, please reinstall the DP role or install a new DP on another server as Jason mentioned.
