Hello, I am a student at UNB. they are using the Microsoft authenticator but it is not working correctly and their IT department refuses to help. I believe i need to reset my MFA. It is stuck in a cycle where either no authentication comes through or it asks me to authenticate a request from within the app it self with no way to exit the current screen except by cancelling the request. Its very frustrating and the issue has been present since last november and i cannot complete my online courses. I do not have admin access obviously but there must be a way for a user to reset this process? any help is greatly appreciated as the UNB it department has failed to help me.

    Hi,

As a normal user, you cannot reset your MFA.
You have to be Global Admin.

See below thread for more details:
    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/787388/reset-and-unblock-mfa-in-azure-active-directory.html

If you cannot receive notifications and you didn't register other means for mfa, you need to ask for mfa reset. When you register again you should add your phone as well to be covered.

    Hope this helps!

You can try accessing https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info and reconfigure the options therein. Keep in mind that in case MFA is already enforced on your account, you must be able to complete an MFA challenge (any method should do), before accessing the page above. If you are not able to do so, you'll have to ask your IT support folks, no other way around it.
