I have just purchased a new Lenovo laptop (June 2022). Windows has done all the current updates, so I presume everything is up to date. As I try to learn things, I ask the questions on the internet. The answers, in general, advise me to (for example) Start menu> and then choose ******. My problem is ******* is not the same on my computer. What I am told to click on is not listed.
Another problem is, I cannot create a new file in Quick view on the C drive. I can create a file inside the designated- Documents, Pictures, Downloads, Music and Video files that come installed, but if I put photos in the Pictures file, I can only view one at a time, rather than clicking a 'next' arrow. The whole system seems to be so complicated after the old versions I have been using, from 8.1 backwards. To view photos I have had to download an app. The main problem though is as at the beginning, Everybody who gives answers to my questions seem to have a different seem to have a totally different system to me.

Firstly, I shall suggest you start a new thread as you have a different question.

To enable compatibility mode for a program, right-click on its executable and select Properties.

    Switch to the Compatibility tab

Enable the checkbox for “Run this program in compatibility mode for”.

From the drop-down menu, select the Windows version for which the older program was developed

Windows 11 is new, and I believe you are referring to guidelines for Windows 10 and Windows 11 is a bit different.
To view new photo, there is no need to install any application, you already app Photo app and it should open photos.
When you search for any issue, you have specified to show solution for Windows 11.

Thank you everyone for trying to help. I think I have figured out the answer. Windows Photo in Windows 11 is a very simple photo editing tool and not a photo viewer as in earlier windows. Windows 11 does not seem to have a viewer, hence the reason I had to download an app. I am presuming I am correct?
However, I now have another question.
I have transferred a drawing program from my Windows 8.1 laptop and it does not open properly. The splash screen, when loading is very tiny. When the program opens, the work space is full size, but all the toolbars, top and bottom are too small to read. I will attach a photo of the original screen when it opens correctly.
When it opens in Windows 11 the top and side toolbars are very narrow, less than half the width they should be.
I have tried running in 'Compatibility mode, but no luck.
Somebody told me this version I have worked in Windows 10. Is 11 just an upgraded 10 or does it handle old software differently?
