Intune: how to automatically power off if the PC is unattended

Hi guys,

we use MS Teams Rooms based on Windows 10 (from Yealink).

The devices are switched on before our users use them. But the MTRs are not switched off from some users after the meeting is over. Maybe this is also desired by MS.

But we want to save energy and prevent hardware wear and tear. So we want the Win10 devices to shut down automatically when they are not being used by people and are unattended. Of course, shutting down can wait when Windows is doing an update.

I can't find an option in the Teams Admin Center. Then I looked in Intune and found the policy CSP - Power. Power/UnattendedSleepTimeoutPluggedIn might be the feature I'm looking for.

But I don't want the devices to go into standby -> I want them to shut down and I understand from the instructions that this function sends the device into standby.

Please help.

I also thought of writing a small powershell. But I'm afraid that this might interrupt team meetings because the script doesn't recognise the machine being used because the team app loads as a window over the logging screen.

Later I would also like to use the "UnattendedPowerOffTimeoutPluggedIn" for normal PCs, but with a longer wait time for shutdown.

Thank you very much!

With kind regards

Jacob

@JacobNG_ Thanks for posting in our Q&A.

For this issue, it seems there is no built-in settings can make it via intune. Based on my research, currently, we can make the device sleep or reboot. However, I didn't find if there is any CSP can make the device shut down.

What intune can do is based on windows CSPs. It is needed windows to provide such CSP.

    Thanks for your understanding.

Why hibernate is not enough, if your primary target is to save energy and the hardware?
