How does the Azure pay-as-you-go subcription work? I am preparing for the AZ-900

Hello there,
I am preparing for the AZ-900 exam and although I understand that the exam itself does not contain lab questions, the course I am taking does require you to have access to the Azure Admin. and suggests to create a free account.
I cannot create a free account and instead, I am given the option to create a pay-as-you-go account. I see that I can opt out before 30 days or registration to avoid being charged to the card I use to sign up.
Can someone confirm if this is accurate and if possible, provide more details?
Thank you and regards,
Oscar

If you haven't already taken advantage of the Azure Trial you should do so. You must use a credit card to sign up, but you do not get billed for services unless you explicitly choose to do so after your credits run out.

If you sign up you will get 30 days with 200 USD in credits to use.
