Issue in installing additional SCOM Management server

Env: SCOM 2016

We have five Management Servers in the environment. Now, I want to add two more servers to environment. Built Windows 2016 servers and tried installing SCOM MS compoenent but stuck with mentioning Database details. When I enter Listener name and hit tab, it doesn't list any databases. I am able to telnet the Listener name from the SCOM server. I am not sure what I am missing.

My account has local admin rights on SCOM server, SQL server, Sysadmin on SQL and part of SCOM admin. I have disabled Firewall now and tried, but still no luck.

Are you running SQL on a different/non-default TCP port?

@Balaji Suresh , From your description, it seems our SQL database is a database on a SQL Always On Availability Group. If there's any misunderstanding, please let us know.

To clarify our issue, could you confirm the following information:

For other working SCOM management server, did they connect to the databases on a SQL Server Always On availability group?

Is this affected additional Management Server in the same network with the SQL servers? Is there any firewall between them? If yes, please make sure the ports in the following link are opening:

Check the DNS server configured on this server, Is it the same one on other SCOM Management Server.

Please confirm the above information and if there's any question, feel free to let us know.

Yes. Our database is present in Always On AG.
Server1: dbservername1\instance1 - Port: 56622
Server2: dbservername2\instance2 - Port: 56633

I could connect to Listener name SCOM_LS1 on Port 1433 also.

To answer your questions:

All management servers has Listener name (not AG name) in Setup registry. (Listener name: SCOM_LS1)

I have checked two of my old Management servers, they are in same subnet as my new two Management servers are and they could connect to DB servers.

I could successfully telnet from SCOM server to Database server on 1433, 56622, 56633

In SCOM error log, I could see below lines. Please help with these error log:
[06:23:09]: Error: :Error in Forcing Service to Running state.: Threw Exception.Type: System.InvalidOperationException, Exception Error Code: 0x80131509, Exception.Message: Cannot open Service Control Manager on computer 'SCOM_LS1'. This operation might require other privileges.

One more thing, I want to highlight is this server had SCOM agent installed. I have uninstalled agent and rebooted server.

I have found the issue and completed MS component installation successfully.

As I mentioned above, agent component was present in this server. I have uninstalled agent but forgot to delete it from Agent Managed view in console. After deleting the entry, database name was visible during MS installation.

It was my bad that I forgot to delete agent entry before installing MS component.

Hi @Balaji Suresh ,
can you please check the logs and paste the related output. In particular the OpsMgrSetupWizard.log. All the logs are found under %LocalAppData%\SCOM\Log or by default

c:\users\<UserName>\Appdata\Local\SCOM\Logs where <UserName>

is the name of the user, who does the installation.
Can you also please also confirm that you are choosing the option "Install additional management server"
