Hello, I got confused while reading Azure.com architecture (link copied below). Is this design an example of deployment stamp pattern? Since Azure Front Door in global in scope, why Azure Traffic Manager to required? I understand ATM is used for load balancing among Azure regions. How is the region of a user is identified? Today I am in India and tomorrow I could be in Europe? Is there any data sync done among regional data stores to support regional outage? Why we need to use CDN if we are already using Azure Front door ? Doesn't AFD provide all the features provided by CDN? Sorry for too many questions, I was confused so asking for your help!! Hello,

I got confused while reading Azure.com architecture (link copied below).

I notice that the article you have shared is a blog post from 2020.
The majority of the services have evolved since then with the introduction of new features.
(One eg. I can think of is the introduction of routing methods in AFD)
These services did not support the features back then that they do now.

The blog post represents an outdated architecture of Azure.com and the architecture has undergone a lot of design changes

One thing we can comment on is the region of the user. This is identified using the client's IP address.
