Cannot move mouse pointer outside one display using an external mouse but can with the touchpad

I am running Windows 10 Enterprise 21H2 on a Lenovo Thinkpad laptop. I have two external monitors:

  • one connected using an HDMI cable
  • second connected using an USB-C to HDMI converter and an HDMI cable
I also have an external mouse connected using USB.

I have the displays correctly configured, because I am able to move the mouse pointer between the displays using the touchpad, however I am unable to move the mouse pointer using the external mouse. The external mouse can only move the mouse pointer within one display. How to fix that?

    Hello

Thank you for your question and reaching out. I can understand you are having issues related to Mouse in Windows 10.

If you can not move mouse to other display, I can assume you have it on MIRRORED Display.

Right click on your desktop, and click “display” - you should be able to see the two monitors there. Click detect so it shows you which one is which.

You can then click and drag the monitor into the position that matches the physical layout. Once done, try to move your mouse there and see if this works!
